A class of its own: The new Kontron µATX motherboards K3841-Q, K3842-Q, and K3843-B

Kontron, Ismaning, 20.04.2022 - Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), introduces three µATX Motherboards supporting the latest 12th Generation Intel® Core™ i Series processors (LGA1700 with 125W TDP) and Intel® Pentium®/Celeron® processors. They are the first products in a new line of Motherboards "designed and made in Germany," consisting of Mini-ITX, µATX & ATX formats, expected to be available throughout the year. The new motherboard family also supports the current DDR5 memory technology for optimal system performance, PCIe Gen5, and the latest Intel® LAN generation with 2.5 Gbit Ethernet.

The motherboards are equipped with two M.2 slots and integrated Intel® TPM 2.0 for Windows 11 support. They feature a 125W CPU TDP, including configurable Thermal Design Power, allowing for power consumption limits. Intel® hybrid CPUs can combine cores, such as Atom® and Core™ i, for even higher performance. The new boards will be available from June. Kontron will also showcase these motherboards at Embedded World in Nuremberg at the end of June 2022.

K3841-Q µATX: Future-proof interfaces and long-term availability

The industrial motherboard K3841-Q µATX is equipped with the high-performance Intel® Q670E chipset with increased reliability (Embedded Broad Market), specifically designed for applications in medical, banking, industrial automation, laboratory diagnostics, and video surveillance. The board features three LAN interfaces, including 1x Intel® 219LM Premium (supporting the latest manageability functions) and 2x I225LM of the new generation with 2.5 Gbit Ethernet. It also offers four COM ports, four PCIe slots—including Gen5 and two x1—and eleven USB interfaces (USB 3.2 Gen2 and Type C). The K3841-Q µATX is available for seven years.

K3842-Q µATX: Even more performance for image processing

The K3842-Q µATX board features the Intel® Q670 chipset with extensive manageability functions and support for Intel® Optane™ memory. It is particularly suitable for integration into higher-end desktop PCs or semi-industrial applications, such as viewing stations in medical. USB Type-C ports and TPM 2.0 for Windows 11 support also play a significant role. Availability is up to five years.

K3843-B µATX: Power in the standard PC

For cost-effective systems requiring the latest CPU technology, the K3843-B µATX is suitable for installation in commercial desktop PCs and semi-industrial applications. The K3843-B is equipped with the B660 chipset, supporting all CPUs with up to 125W TDP. Features such as cTDP, DDR5, four DisplayPorts, four PCIe Gen5 interfaces for higher speed and bandwidth, ensure high performance and versatility. Availability is three years.
