Kontron motherboards K3921-N mSTX and K3921-H mSTX with Intel® Core™ i3 processors and Intel® N-series processors

Kontron, Ismaning, July 18, 2023 - Kontron, a global leader in IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), unveils its latest motherboards K3921-N mSTX and K3921-H mSTX. These compact, reliable boards are "Made in Germany" and deliver outstanding performance and functionality in the compact Mini-STX format. They are ideal for applications in Industrial Automation, Medical, Digital Signage, KIOSK, POS/POI, and Casino Gaming. Customer samples will be available from November 2023.

The industrial motherboard K3921-N mSTX supports powerful Intel® Core™ i3 processors and Intel® processors of the N-series (Alder Lake N) with the latest UHD Gen12 Graphics based on Intel® Xe architecture. The successor to the successful D3544-S (Intel® Gemini Lake platform), it features numerous functions such as dual DisplayPorts v1.4, one DisplayPort over front USB Type-C, an embedded DisplayPort, and a dual-channel LVDS (24-bit). This allows support for up to three independent displays with 4K resolution (2x 4K and 1x FHD). The K3921-N mSTX offers a minimum availability of seven years and is available in four versions to meet individual requirements. With features like 2x GbE LAN (1x 1GbE, 1x 2.5GbE) including Teaming support, 2x COM ports, and adjustable CPU TDP, it is suitable for various industrial applications. Additionally, the board provides two M.2 slots (for storage and WiFi as well as additional interfaces such as GPIO and USB 3.2 Gen2).

The K3921-H mSTX is the cost-optimized version of the K3921-N mSTX, designed to meet individual needs with slightly reduced functionality. It is equipped with the Intel® Processor N100 and also offers 2x DisplayPort v1.4, 1x eDP, and 1x USB Type-C (Alt Mode). The board features a GbE LAN (without Teaming support) and an M.2 Key-M connector with expansion options for PCIe and SATA. Via the front USB Type-C, the K3921-H supports PowerDelivery Sink mode, USB 3.2 Gen1, and DisplayPort AlternateMode (DPoC). Paired with the compact SMARTCASE™ S501, it provides the ideal solution for Thin Client applications. The K3921-H mSTX will be available for at least four years.

Both motherboards share common features such as support for up to 32 GB DDR5 4800 memory, dual power input (12 / 19-28V), M.2 Key-M (2230/2242/2280), and an M.2 Key-E slot (for WLAN-BT / PCIe and CNVi). They also offer up to nine USB ports (USB 3.2 Gen1/2, USB 2.0). Designed for 24/7 operation in extended temperature ranges (K3921-N: -10 °C to +60 °C, K3921-H: 0 °C to +50 °C), a matching SMARTCASE™ S501 will be available simultaneously.
