Kontron introduces the new motherboard K3836-Q/R mITX

Kontron, Ismaning, 10/09/2024 - Kontron, a globally leading provider of IoT/Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), introduces the K3836-Q/R mITX a powerful motherboard in the compact Mini-ITX form factor. Fully equipped with the latest Intel® Core™ processors of the 12th, 13th, and 14th generations and a comprehensive set of modern interfaces, the successor to the successful D3633-S Mini-ITX Motherboard offers a future-proof solution for diverse applications such as industrial automation, robotics, medical diagnostics, digital signage, infotainment, and POS/POI systems.

The Mini-ITX motherboard developed and manufactured in Germany is available in two variants: The K3836-R is based on the Intel® R680E chipset and optimized for mission-critical applications requiring ECC support and real-time capabilities. The K3836-Q is equipped with the equally powerful Intel® Q670 chipset.

The K3836-Q/R mITX motherboard offers extensive connectivity options, including dual Intel® LAN interfaces (1 GbE and 2.5 GbE) with teaming, TSN, and iAMT support. A PCIe x16 Gen5 expansion slot, 13 USB ports (including USB Type-C), as well as M.2 Key-M & Key-E slots ensure versatile connectivity. Additionally, the motherboard supports up to four DisplayPort™ interfaces with resolutions up to 8K. Support for eDP and LVDS, four COM (RS232) and SATA interfaces, as well as SATA/NVMe RAID support, are included.

The K3836-Q/R is designed for continuous operation at temperatures up to +60 °C and demonstrates high reliability even in demanding environments. Support for DDR5-4800/5600 SODIMM memory up to 96 GB, and a x16 slot with bifurcation support (2x PCIe x8 Gen5), enable flexible use. Power is optionally supplied via a standard ATX multi-rail PSU or a single 12V power supply (“DC In”). The motherboard is available for at least seven years and is already prepared for the next generation of Intel® processors, making it a future-proof solution.
