Kontron's 3.5"-SBC-AML/ADN Single Board Computer with Intel Atom® x7000(R)E, Intel® Core™ i3 N- & Intel® N-Series processors

Kontron, Ismaning, 22.05.2024 - Kontron, a global leader in IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), introduces the latest 3.5" SBC-AML / SBC-ADN 3.5" Single Board Computers for developing compact IoT Edge Devices with improved processor and graphics performance, faster AI inferencing capabilities, as well as low power consumption and minimal latency. The new SBCs are suitable for mission-critical real-time computing around remote applications in industrial automation, smart city, retail, and healthcare. Samples will be available for customers starting September 2024.

Compared to the previous generation, the integrated Intel® processors deliver nearly double the graphics performance with up to 32 GPU execution units, next-generation DDR5 memory with transfer rates up to 4,800 MT/s, two USB 3.2 Gen2, one USB 2.0, and one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C ports, triple display support, and numerous integrated controller functions. Both the 3.5" SBC-ADN and the 3.5" SBC-AML boards feature up to two DisplayPort connections on the IO side and a USB-C port supporting up to 4K UHD resolution at 60 frames per second with Intel® UHD Graphics Gen12. An additional onboard LVDS connection can optionally be used for direct display connection. The improved GPU performance primarily accelerates AI and image processing tasks.

Several models of the 3.5" SBC-ADN and 3.5" SBC-AML support Intel® Time Coordinated Computing (TCC) and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). The new SBCs are ideal for IoT-Edge devices demanding high security, low power consumption, and minimal latency. Edge devices also benefit from the serial and digital I/O interfaces available on the board, as well as the high voltage input of 9 to 36V DC.

The 3.5" SBC-ADN and 3.5" SBC-AML single board computers support all processor variants (standard or project-specific) and use state-of-the-art technology components. The 3.5" SBC-AML board is designed for continuous operation (24/7) under harsh operating conditions and high system loads. The 3.5" SBC-ADN and 3.5" SBC-AML are available in two different operating temperature variants: Commercial (0 °C ~ 60 °C) and Industrial (-40 °C ~ 85 °C) to accommodate different environmental scenarios.

The 3.5" SBC-ADN and 3.5" SBC-AML single board computers offer a long-term availability of up to 10 years from the release date thanks to embedded key components and meet high certification standards.

The extensive portfolio of 3.5" single-board computers is complemented by a range of I/O and function expansion boards called 3.5" eIO. These extension boards provide additional I/O ports, including extra display (DP & HDMI) and LAN connections. The 3.5" eIOs support both commercial and industrial temperature ranges and are compatible with the 3.5" SBC-ADN, 3.5" SBC-AML, as well as previous generations 3.5" SBC-EKL and 3.5" SBC-TGL.
