Advantech Unveils the New AIMB-789 Motherboard with Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors (Series 2) for Exceptional Computing Performance

Advantech, Taipei, Taiwan, 24.03.2025 - Advantech (TWSE: 2395), a global leader in industrial IoT, has announced the launch of the AIMB-789 motherboard, leveraging the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra processors (Series 2). This advanced motherboard delivers exceptional computational performance, ideal for data-intensive applications, making it ideal for data-intensive applications that require high memory capacity and expandability.
Enhanced Performance with the Latest CPU and Up to 192GB DDR5 Memory
The AIMB-789 motherboard delivers 20% higher performance than its predecessor by leveraging the optimized architecture of Intel® Core™ Ultra processors (Series 2). The latest CPU showcases groundbreaking advancements in performance and energy efficiency — achieving the same performance as the previous generation with only half the power.
In addition, AIMB-789 supports up to 192GB of DDR5 memory, enabling it to handle demanding computational workloads. This is particularly beneficial in smart manufacturing, where it facilitates simultaneous processing of complex tasks and large data volumes. Increased memory enhances machine vision and industrial automation, improving real-time processing and responsiveness — key to optimizing production line efficiency and ensuring precise quality control. The AIMB-789 addresses common production bottlenecks.
Efficient Expandability with Advanced Storage and High-Speed Processing
The AIMB-789 features PCIe Gen5 x16 slots and supports PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSDs, essential for high-bandwidth data storage and access. This is critical for edge AI and data-heavy applications such as machine vision and automated optical inspection (AOI). In semiconductor testing, the AIMB-789’s high-speed storage enhances image data processing and detection accuracy, improving testing efficiency and reducing downtime. Multiple expansion slots support additional GPUs and computing cards for more complex workloads, such as machine vision and edge AI computing.
Unlock CPU Potential with EdgeMax for Smart Manufacturing
Advantech’s AIMB-789 motherboard enhances industrial edge computing with the all-new EdgeMax function, allowing users to unlock CPU potential with a single setting. Traditionally, power limits were preset to a balanced level, but now customers can conveniently adjust BIOS settings to maximize performance for demanding industrial applications, such as AI AOI, which requires high-speed image processing and real-time analysis to detect defects with precision.
Seamless Software Compatibility
To ensure smooth integration into industrial environments, the AIMB-789 supports Windows, Ubuntu, and other mainstream operating systems, providing a stable foundation for diverse applications. With this combination of performance optimization and broad software compatibility, manufacturers can achieve greater flexibility, efficiency, and computing power in their edge AI systems. AIMB-789 will enter mass production in March and will be showcased at the Productronica China Exhibition.
